Downtown St. Louis has a new place for visitors to stay, dine, and take in the city. Hyatt Centric Downtown St. Louis has officially opened at 1501 Washington Avenue, bringing 142 guest rooms, locally inspired dining, and a rooftop bar and pool to a historic building that reflects the city’s manufacturing past.
The hotel marks the first Hyatt Centric property in Missouri and gives visitors another lodging option near some of the region’s most recognizable attractions, including Gateway Arch National Park, Busch Stadium, City Museum, and America’s Center Convention Complex. MetroLink is also within reach, connecting guests to destinations throughout the region.
The opening brings new life to a building with deep roots in St. Louis history. Constructed in 1910 as the headquarters of Roberts, Johnson & Rand Shoe Company, the 11-story structure played a role in the city’s early 20th-century garment and footwear industry. Its distinctive architectural details, including vertical columns, elaborate ornamentation, and Art Nouveau influences, reflect the Sullivanesque style.
Rather than leave that history behind, the hotel incorporates industrial-inspired design into its contemporary spaces. The 142 guest rooms feature high ceilings, oversized windows, abundant natural light, and city views, with select rooms and suites offering dedicated seating areas.
“Hyatt Centric Downtown St. Louis gives World of Hyatt members and guests a new way to experience the city from the center of the action,” said Bill Tirone, General Manager of Hyatt Centric Downtown St. Louis. The hotel, he added, brings the city’s history forward while providing guests with a convenient base for exploring St. Louis.
Local Flavor, From the Lobby to the Rooftop
Dining and gathering spaces are central to the hotel’s offerings, with options designed to attract both overnight guests and local residents.
The Link, the lobby restaurant and bar, serves locally sourced New American cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu includes St. Louis favorites such as toasted ravioli and The Hill classic pizza, alongside dishes prepared using the restaurant’s wood-burning pizza oven and wood-fired grill. The restaurant’s name pays homage to Theodore C. Link, the architect associated with the historic building who is best known for designing Union Station.
Guests can also stop at the Lobby Bar or visit Provisions, a 24-hour grab-and-go market offering sandwiches, salads, and other essentials.
On the rooftop, Expedition combines a seasonal bar and pool with views of Downtown. The venue serves creative cocktails and shareable dishes and is scheduled to operate during the spring and summer.
A New Addition to Downtown’s Visitor Economy
Beyond overnight accommodations and dining, Hyatt Centric Downtown St. Louis offers approximately 11,750-square-feet of flexible meeting and event space. The facilities can accommodate executive meetings, weddings, social celebrations, rehearsal dinners, and welcome receptions. A ballroom can host more than 200 guests.
Other amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, rooftop pool, and pet-friendly accommodations. The hotel’s opening adds to the range of options available to leisure travelers, convention attendees, and business visitors staying in the urban core.
“The opening of Hyatt Centric Downtown St. Louis is a strong vote of confidence in our Downtown area and the future of our visitor economy,” said Brad Dean, CEO of Explore St. Louis. He noted that the hotel brings new life to a historic Washington Avenue landmark while giving visitors another reason to stay Downtown.
