Authorization of $100 million in support “lets those impacted know that the State is committed to rebuilding St. Louis”
ST. LOUIS – Greater St. Louis, Inc. today thanked the Missouri General Assembly for approving much-needed support to the thousands of people in St. Louis that have been impacted by the May 16 tornado. The Missouri House voted today to join the Senate in passing legislation to provide $100 million in critical state funding to recovery efforts.
“Nothing can truly replace what thousands of people in St. Louis lost as a result of the May 16 tornado, but the funding approved by the Missouri legislature will provide critical support to help address some of the most pressing needs faced by our community,” said Dustin Allison, Interim CEO of GSL.
“We applaud leaders from both parties who came together to advance $100 million in desperately needed support to the St. Louis community, support that lets those impacted know that the State is committed to rebuilding St. Louis.”
The legislation passed by both chambers of the Missouri General Assembly in a special legislative session called by Governor Mike Kehoe authorizes $100 million for disaster relief for St. Louis. The legislation now moves to Governor Kehoe for his signature.
