Announced last week here in St. Louis, the American Beer Act will more than halve Missouri’s excise tax on American breweries, making the manufacturing of beer more affordable and accessible, even for smaller operations. Governor Mike Kehoe signed the bill into law on the campus of Anheuser-Busch’s iconic St. Louis brewery alongside local and state leaders.

Said Governor Kehoe: “With this law, we’re not just supporting Missouri’s beer industry, along with farmers, suppliers, and retailers that help brew and serve American beers — we’re also setting an example for how we can support American manufacturers, the jobs they create, and the impact they have on their local communities.”

The Bottom Line: The King of Beers has always been from St. Louis. And Anheuser-Busch, an executive-level GSL investor, has set a standard for beer manufacturing all over the world. This new bill builds on that heritage, making Missouri a place where beer makers can thrive and setting a new standard for American manufacturing.
