Performance Food Group, Inc. — a Fortune 100 company and one of North America’s largest food distributors — is investing nearly $120 million and adding nearly 100 new jobs in the St. Louis metro. The new facility expands PFG’s presence in St. Louis and allows the company to grow its operations locally as well as across the Midwest region.
“Performance Foodservice Middendorf is proud of our 60-plus-year history in the St. Louis area and our reputation as a premier distributor of food, foodservice supplies, and custom meats to our more than 1,500 local customers. We look forward to moving to our new facility, which will allow us to add to our associate base and enable us to better serve our growing customer base,” said Greg Gruber, President of Performance Food Service Middendorf.
Said Michelle Hataway, Acting Director of the Department of Economic Development: “DED is proud to support Performance Food Group alongside our partners as it continues to succeed and expand its presence in Missouri. This new facility is bringing investment and job creation that will strengthen the local economy while creating additional opportunities for Missourians to prosper.”
Metro leaders came together today to break ground on the new, nearly 350,000-square-foot regional distribution facility in North St. Louis County.
“This investment by Performance Food Group is the latest great news for North St. Louis County,” said St. Louis County Executive Dr. Sam Page. “The food distribution facility continues the successful build out of NorthPark and showcases St. Louis County as an exciting place to grow a business.”
The region’s business and civic leadership — led by Greater St. Louis, Inc. and the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership — collaborated with the State of Missouri and the Missouri Department of Economic Development to facilitate the deal that led to the new facility and the nearly 100 new jobs it will bring to the region.
“This investment in St. Louis by Performance Food Group speaks to their confidence in our strong workforce, reliable infrastructure, and growing distribution sector,” said Jason Hall, CEO of Greater St. Louis, Inc. “They are a Fortune 100 company, and this new facility and these new jobs are another example of how the St. Louis metro is a place in which global companies want to invest. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with PFG and helping them grow here in St. Louis.”
Added Rodney Crim, CEO and President of the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership: “We're genuinely excited to have played a role in Performance Foodservice Middendorf's investment in NorthPark. The addition of new jobs in North St. Louis County stands as a meaningful contribution, poised to positively impact the region’s economic growth and vitality.”
