Newly signed Missouri legislation creates a Downtown entertainment district, which can unlock state funding to hire additional public safety personnel and promote entertainment tourism. Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe joined civic and business leaders in St. Louis late last week to celebrate the bill.
"I’m proud to be born and raised in St. Louis and remain committed to revitalizing downtown," said Kehoe. "This special entertainment district marks a new chapter for business and community leaders to promote tourism, public safety, and economic growth in St. Louis."
The Bottom Line: Revitalizing Downtown St. Louis is a collaborative effort that requires commitment from local, regional, and even state leaders. The STL 2030 Jobs Plan reminds us: “The success of our urban core … will strengthen our entire metropolitan region for decades to come and put more jobs within reach.” The governor’s stamp on this legislation amplifies the work already being done by GSL and local partners like Lodging Hospitality Management and Gateway Arch Park Foundation.
