Missouri voters today held primary elections to determine candidates for the November 2024 election. Greater St. Louis, Inc. publicly endorsed two candidates this primary election cycle, Mike Kehoe in the Republican primary for Governor of Missouri and Wesley Bell in the Democratic primary for U.S. Representative in the 1st Congressional District. Both candidates were victorious.
In response to the primary election results, Greater St. Louis, Inc. CEO Jason Hall issued the following statement:
“Earlier this summer, Greater St. Louis, Inc. took the unprecedented step of issuing public endorsements of Mike Kehoe and Wesley Bell in the Republican and Democratic primaries, respectively. We want to thank the voters in both parties who made clear that they want leaders who will support and advance policies that drive growth and who are willing to build bridges to move our state forward in a way that expands the opportunity to thrive for all our citizens.
“Although they come from different political parties and have differing views on many policies, Mike Kehoe and Wesley Bell share a common, urgent priority – growth for Missouri and the St. Louis region.
“They share priorities with the business community as well, including increasing public safety, investing in key metro assets like Downtown and Lambert Airport, and ensuring people throughout the state and metro have the tools necessary for job growth.
“These are growth issues, not partisan issues. Mike Kehoe is a conservative Republican and Wesley Bell is a progressive Democrat. We, and they, will not agree on how to solve every problem. However, the importance of having these two seats filled by pragmatic, pro-growth leaders can make the difference between the status quo or progress for our metro and state.
“We look forward to working with Mike Kehoe and Wesley Bell throughout the rest of the campaign and in their new offices once elected in November.”
