An unprecedented year challenged businesses to step up for their employees, and two St. Louis stalwarts received national recognition for their response.
This week, Fortune named Edward Jones and World Wide Technology two of 2021’s 100 Best Companies to Work For. A full 40% of this year’s rating factored in how well the companies supported their employees in the midst of the global pandemic.
Edward Jones, headquartered in Des Peres, Missouri, and led by CEO Penny Pennington, came in at No. 20. Alongside its usual perks, the company this past year provided mental health and child care services and paid employees back for lost wages after temporarily freezing pay increases.
World Wide Technology rated No. 73 on the list. Located in Maryland Heights, Missouri, and led by Founder and Chairman Dave Steward and CEO James Kavanaugh, the company offered its employees an additional six weeks of paid time off and expanded mental health benefits in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
