Business and civic leaders convene in Alton, IL

Greater St. Louis, Inc. gathered Illinois legislative, business, and civic leaders together today for a bipartisan legislative forum, the second event of the year in the 2023 GSL Public Policy Speaker Series. Attendees gathered at AltonWorks — a redevelopment company dedicated to revitalizing downtown Alton — to hear Illinois House Assistant Majority Leader Jay Hoffman, Senator Christopher Belt, and Representatives Katie Stuart and Amy Elik discuss issues that will impact the 2023 legislative session.

The group discussed Illinois infrastructure priorities, talent development, support for new and emerging businesses, and the importance of Scott Air Force Base to the Metro East, culminating in conversation and questions from the engaged audience.

“Speaker Series events are an important part of our work to foster lasting relationships that will benefit the entire St. Louis metro for years to come,” said GSL Chief Policy Officer Tracy Henke. “We want to thank Leader Hoffman, Senator Belt, and Representatives Stuart and Elik for sharing their insights with our investors, and we look forward to continuing these conversations throughout the year.”
