ST. LOUIS – Greater St. Louis, Inc. announced today that it has hired Franklin County Presiding Commissioner Tim Brinker to fill the newly created role of Senior Vice President for Government Relations.

“Tim’s leadership and focus on collaboration brings a fresh and engaging new voice to our efforts to grow the region inclusively and advance our public policy agenda,” said GSL Interim CEO Dustin Allison. “We are excited to have him joining our team.”

Brinker has a long history of service to the citizens of Franklin County and is actively involved in regional public affairs efforts, including leadership positions with East-West Gateway and the Missouri Association of Counties.

“Growing the St. Louis metro is our most important priority, and as Presiding Commissioner of Franklin County, I have seen firsthand the indispensable role Greater St. Louis, Inc. plays in advancing mission,” said Brinker. “I can’t wait to get to work on policies that drive growth across our 15-county, bi-state region.”

True Advocate for Regional Collaboration

Brinker has served as Presiding Commissioner of Franklin County since August of 2018, when he was appointed by Governor Mike Parson to fill the unexpired term of John Greishiemer. He was elected to a full term as Presiding Commissioner in November 2018.

As Presiding Commissioner, Brinker served as a member of the East-West Gateway Regional Council of Governments and the Missouri Association of Counties, roles that have provided him opportunities to be a strong advocate for initiatives that have advanced collaboration across the bi-state St. Louis region, including the Regional Pandemic Task Force and East-West Gateway’s ongoing efforts to reduce homicides and violent crime and address homelessness.

Brinker and his wife of over 30 years, Betsy (Dill) Brinker, reside in Washington, Missouri, and are the proud parents of four children, Ryan, Holly, Beau, and Scarlett.

Next Steps

Brinker’s last day as Franklin County Presiding Commissioner will be Friday, February 14, and his first day with GSL will be Monday, February 17. He has informed Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe of his plans; Kehoe will appoint Brinker’s replacement until an election can be held for Franklin County voters to select his replacement.

In addition to Brinker’s hire, GSL will continue to staff up in its public policy function to drive an agenda focused on inclusive economic growth.
