The St. Louis metro’s community colleges play a critical role in reducing barriers to promote equitable growth and developing a strong workforce, and earlier today, St. Louis Community College, a member of the Greater St. Louis, Inc. Chair’s Council, launched a multi-pronged, systemwide transformation process dubbed STLCC Transformed, which aims to bring the College into a more modern standing by providing facilities and programming for the growth and competitiveness of our region.
STLCC Transformed was made possible by the passage of Proposition R in 2021. GSL was proud to be a financial backer and member of the coalition advocating for passage of the ballot initiative. Approved by voters in St. Louis City, County, and parts of Jefferson and Franklin Counties, Proposition R was a huge win for our metro and moves forward the talent pipeline initiative laid out in the STL 2030 Jobs Plan.
In kicking off its new Transformed initiative, STLCC is beginning construction on a new, 132,000-square-foot Center for Health Sciences and Technology, as well as the renovation of 15,000 square feet of current building space, at its Wildwood campus.
In total, STLCC — the St. Louis region’s largest educational institution — plans to construct seven new buildings at its four main campuses as part of the STLCC Transformed initiative.
