The wins just keep coming for St. Louis, with the metro capping off yet another big week. From the Arch to Austin, Texas, St. Louisans let their pride shine for the region in ways that were forward-thinking, collaborative, and very St. Louis.
This past weekend, St. Louis took to the stage at South by Southwest, one of the most prominent gatherings of leaders and innovators in the world, and shined in the spotlight. Dozens of people officially represented St. Louis in Austin this past weekend, highlighting St. Louis’ leadership in entrepreneurship and tech growth, arts, culture, sports, food, and solving critical challenges like food and climate security.
“We were able to successfully showcase St. Louis on a very global scale,” said Steven Pearce, GSL Chief Business Attraction Officer.
At the same time, the St. Louis metro celebrated the biggest 314 Day yet, thanks to the pride for St. Louis shown by people from all over the region — and by St. Louisans all over the country. Founded in 2006 by St. Louisans Terrell “Young Dip” Evans and Tatum Polk, 314 Day this year generated nearly 100 media stories, over 6 million media impressions, and nearly a half million social media engagements. Even Nelly himself got involved, partnering with the 314 Day Foundation to announce a new 314 Day tournament that will engage St. Louisans next year even more.
All of this comes on the heels of the successful St. Louis CITY SC inaugural home opener, bringing crowds of nearly 500,000 Downtown and boosting adjacent restaurants and businesses, vibrant St. Patrick’s Day celebrations Downtown and throughout the metro, and record-breaking attendance for the St. Louis Battlehawks’ first home game.
“We have a lot to be proud of in this region," concluded GSL CEO Jason Hall.
